Ipswich Turf Club – Friday 2 November – Program Replaced

Brisbane RC @ Doomben – Wednesday 31 October – Race Date Relinquished

RQ confirms that following consultation with Brisbane Racing Club the race meeting scheduled for Wednesday 31 October at Doomben has been relinquished.

The decision has been made to reduce the workload on the Doomben racing surface leading into the venue’s important Summer Carnival commitments.

To ensure that there remains a metropolitan (midweek status) meeting in SEQ in that week however, the Ipswich TC race meeting on Friday 2 November will now be afforded midweek metropolitan status. That meeting’s program will now be as follows:

Ipswich Turf Club – Friday 2 November – Program Replaced

  • Class 4 Plate (SW) 1200m – $25,000
  • Benchmark 70 Handicap 1350m – $25,000
  • Class 3 Handicap 1666m – $25,000
  • Class 2 Plate (SW) 1000m – $25,000
  • Class 1 Plate (SW) 2150m – $25,000
  • Maiden Plate (SW) 4yo & Up 1100m – $20,000
  • QTIS 3yo Benchmark 65 Handicap 1200m – $25,000 + applicable QTIS bonuses
  • QTIS 3yo Maiden Handicap 1100m – $20,000 + applicable QTIS bonuses

Commensurate with the aforementioned changes and to ensure that there is Queensland thoroughbred product on Wednesday 31 October, the Cairns Jockey Club race meeting which was previously scheduled for Tuesday 30 October, will now be run a day later.

And, despite the change in dates, there will only be a minor change to the program which has been previously published in respect of that race meeting.  It will now comprise an eight (as opposed to seven) race card, with the change as follows:

Cairns Jockey Club Tuesday 30 October – Rescheduled to Wednesday 31 October

  • Class 1 Handicap 1250m is replaced by 2 races which comprise:
  • Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 Plate (SW) 1250m $14,000; and
  • Fillies & Mares Class 1 Plate (SW) 1250m $14,000.

The aforementioned changes will be prescribed in the October edition of the RACE Magazine.
