The Palaszczuk Government’s $13 million redevelopment of Ipswich Turf Club is powering ahead with demolition kicking off and earthworks and civil works set to commence in December.

“Ipswich is one of Queensland’s most important racing centres and this redevelopment will help to secure the club’s long-term future,” he said.

“We all know how much Ipswich residents love going racing, particularly on Ipswich Cup Day in June, which regularly attracts more than 20,000 racegoers.

“Thanks to this redevelopment, future generations of racegoers will be able to enjoy state of-the-art facilities, along with trainers, owners, jockeys and on course staff.

“The redevelopment is also delivering an important economic boost to Ipswich, supporting around 220 jobs during construction.”

The new commercial building is scheduled for completion by the Ipswich Cup meeting in June 2019, with the addition of new raceday stalls and parking also planned for completion in 2019.

Ipswich Turf Club Chairman Wayne Patch said “I am delighted that the contractor has been appointed, demolition is in full swing, and the construction phase is underway.

The project is to be completed mid-2019 and I would like to thank Ministers Grace Grace and Stirling Hinchliffe for their personal support in ensuring that this project has finally become a reality.”

Brendan Parnell said “The Ipswich Turf Club plays a crucial part in the history of racing in this great state. This $13 million redevelopment will secure an enduring community benefits and improve club sustainability.
