Spring raceday delivers the goods
Free for a Year winner Kimberley Leonard was overwhelmed with the prize her family walked away with following the City of Ipswich Spring Cup Raceday last month.
The Basin Pocket family was mid water slide when Kimberley’s name was called and she made a dash to the enclosure to claim the prize.
“I couldn’t believe it when I heard my name,” Kimberley said.
“I had to ask a few people if I had heard correctly.”
Kimberley had finished work for the day and looking for some family-friendly entertainment headed to the Club with her family husband Simon and kids Sophie, 6, and Will,8.
“The entertainment was fantastic and winning this amazing prize just made our day,” she said.
“We’ve had a really tough few years with Sophie diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma.
“In fact, we had to sell many of our valuable items including an old trailer.”
Neuroblastoma is the most common solid tumour of childhood. It is a solid tumour arising from particular nerve cells which run in a chain-like fashion up the child’s abdomen and chest and into the skull following the line of the spinal cord.
But things are looking on the bright side for the family with Sophie now in remission although she needs check-ups every 12 weeks.
Kimberley and her family walked away with the new HANS trailer, Iron Jack beer, Sirromet wine, a VIP Magic Pass for the family and membership to the Ipswich Turf Club.
