Wednesday 18 Oct meeting abandoned
The Ipswich Turf Club race meeting on Wednesday 18 October has been abandoned following an inspection of the track by QRIC stewards.
At the conclusion of the inspection, stewards determined that there is no likelihood of the track being suitable for racing on Wednesday & further, that there is no potential for it to improve to the extent that it could be raced on within the next 2-3 days.
RQ did consider the rescheduling of the meeting to a later date but following consultation with the Australian Trainers Association & given the impending racing schedule in SEQ, this has not been deemed necessary. The existing programs in SEQ over the next 7-10 days provide alternative options for the majority of horses denied the opportunity to race at Ipswich due to the abandonment.
Given this, trainers are reminded that under the auspices of Rule LR.37 & following a race meeting’s abandonment, horses are able to be nominated for a race meeting for which the acceptance deadline has not expired. On that basis, there is the option to consider alternative opportunities at race meetings this weekend, for which acceptances close within the next 48 hours.
