BENJAMIN Osmond is from Dungog, a tiny town in New South Wales most famous as the birthplace of Doug Walters, who went back to Dungog last year for the unveiling of a life-size statue of himself.
Benjamin has a long way to go to match the fame of the Test cricketer as well known for his love of a beer and a smoke as he is for belting centuries.
But in the cut-throat world of Sydney racing, Benjamin has chalked up more than 140 wins, including a Listed success aboard Harlem Queen at Hawkesbury.
One thing Benjamin and Doug have in common is their laconic attitude.
Benjamin came to Queensland for a change of scenery. The 26-year-old shifted is based at Kris Lees’ Gold Coast satellite stable.
