Home is hope for Anthony New

RACING is full of uncertainty, but jockey Anthony Allen knows one thing for sure: that whatever happens on the track is quickly put into perspective back at home.
Anthony started his racing career in his hometown of Grafton before moving to Queensland, where he finished his apprenticeship with Brisbane trainer Steele Ryan.
A major chapter in Anthony’s career came with Incentivise, the star stayer he helped develop before the gelding won the Caulfield Cup and finish second in the Melbourne Cup in 2021.
Anthony and his wife Lani experienced the stillbirth of their daughter Poppy in 2023. Their son Hugo, born a year later, brought renewed hope.
Now, with 700 winners behind him and another recent victory at Ipswich on Divil A Bit, Anthony continues to balance the highs and lows of racing with the perspective, love and hope he finds at home.
