It’s family first for Dale New

DALE Groves loves horses and his life revolves around them, but his wife Kristy and their sons Nash and Nova mean so much more to him.
The Toowoomba trainer has been involved with horses since high school where he went with Tony Gollan.
Dale did work experience with Tony’s father, the legendary Toowoomba trainer Darryl Gollan, who died in 2020.
Dale’s wife is former jockey Kristy Banks. Kristy worked closely with Darryl Gollan and has more than 450 wins to her name.
Dale and Kristy were overjoyed with the win at Ipswich racetrack of Heroic Chief, an eight-year-old gelding Kristy bought on Inglis online in 2024 for $5000.
Dale said his stable was on a roll lately: buying horses cheaply, learning their idiosyncrasies and winning races.
