The Ipswich Turf Club has a fantastic opportunity for a chef and kitchen leader who has a passion to deliver consistently exceptional guest experiences to become part of our team. The club not only hosts weekly horse racing meetings and the time-honoured Ipswich Cup annually but is also home to the recently opened Ipswich Events & Entertainment Centre and The Barn Family Restaurant.
What are we looking for?
- A qualified chef who consistently produces high quality cuisine while adhering to all food safety requirements.
- The ability to follow and deliver performance objectives to meet business expectations.
- An ability to work well within the team and with an extended team across multiple departments in the business.
- Preparation and delivery of our fantastic food within a high-volume restaurant and function space.
- Coach and develop fellow team members while leading and delivering the site kitchen operations on a day-to-day basis
Main duties include:
- Leading the food preparation and execution of service for 20 to 300pax.
- Supporting the delivery of the Ipswich Cup Race Day ~15,000 attendees annually
- Ensuring expectations of the business services are consistently met.
- Catering for functions such as weddings, celebrations, and corporate events.
- Delivery of high-quality menus and taking responsibility for food standards, procedures and processes.
- Maintaining a clean, compliant, and efficient kitchen operation.
To be successful, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience as a Head Chef, Chef or Sous Chef in a hotel, restaurant, function centre or pub environment.
- Be an energetic leader and reliable team player with a strong work ethic.
- Experience and solid understanding of financial controls within a hospitality operation.
- The ability to lead, train and develop a team.
- Passion for providing exceptional quality food to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Commitment to upholding our brand standards, OH&S and food hygiene procedures.
- Previous experience managing a team of 10 plus members, to lead, train and develop the team.
- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery is required.
- Eligibility to work in Australia.
- Driver License (preferred, however not essential)
The role requires the flexibility across a 7-day roster to work days and evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
