2025/2026 Premiership titles announced New

Date: 29-Jul-2026

THREE new names and a Hall of Famer reaches double figures.

That was the story of the Ipswich Turf Club’s Premiership winners for 2025-26, where the club conducted 46 meetings, highlighted by the annual TAB Ipswich Cup.

Ben Thompson made an immediate impact on returning to Australia from Hong Kong and now has his first Ipswich Jockey Premiership, which will sit alongside his maiden Queensland Metropolitan title for 2025-26.

Thompson rode 28 winners for the season at Ipswich, alongside another 45 minor placings to have an eight-win margin over last year’s Premiership winner Angela Jones (20 wins) and Brandon Lerena (17 wins). Thompson was at his best on Ipswich Cup day, piloting a winning treble.

Jett Newman finished fifth on the overall Premiership with 11 wins, which was enough to see her finish atop the Apprentice Premiership title for the 2025-26 season.

Trainer Michael Morrison is the other new name on the Ipswich Honour Roll in 2026, taking out the local trainer title after moving his team to Bundamba in the first half of the calendar year.

Morrison has been a welcome addition to the local training ranks and the club looks forward to seeing him prepare more winners from his Mill Street base in 2026-27.

While those three titles all went the way of new faces, the Trainer Premiership was won by a familiar name, with Tony Gollan chalking up his 10th Ipswich title this season.

Gollan, inducted into the Queensland Racing Hall of Fame in 2025, won 26 Ipswich races this season, to have an eight win buffer over both the Chris and Corey Munce stable and Jack Bruce.

Gollan’s final winner for the season came via Listen Jani at the club’s final 2025-26 meeting last Friday.
