Celebrating National Thoroughbred Week at Ipswich Turf Club New

Date: 21-Nov-2025

The Ipswich Turf Club was proud to take part in the inaugural National Thoroughbred Week, a celebration of the vital role the thoroughbred industry plays in our region.

The day focused on showcasing the impact of retired thoroughbreds, with visitors having the chance to meet a retired racehorse from Racing Hearts and receive free career inspiration from The Industry School - Ipswich. Both organisations worked together to highlight the joy and purpose retired thoroughbreds continue to provide.

Racing Hearts, the first organisation of its kind in Australia, offered insight into its Equine Assisted Therapy programs for groups and individuals. Through innovative retraining and integration into therapeutic programs, Racing Hearts gives retired racehorses a meaningful new chapter while supporting the wellbeing of people in the community.

Guests also learned about the breadth of career opportunities within the racing industry - an industry that can take young people across Australia and around the world. The Industry School shared pathways into these careers and introduced its bespoke Equine Academy program, developed in partnership with turf clubs, including right here at Ipswich.

National Thoroughbred Week at Ipswich Turf Club highlighted not only the importance of the industry but also the ongoing dedication to equine welfare, education, and opportunity.
