Ipswich Preview And Selections 26 November 2022

Date: 25-Nov-2022

The Ipswich Turf Club hosts a rare Saturday meeting this weekend. Seven races will be run and won on what should be a cracking day for racing.

With warm weather forecast, we should see a Good racing surface.  The rail is in the true position.

Race 1 - 12:53PM @IPSWICHTURFCLUB Maiden Handicap (2150 METRES)

Speed: Idle Dice, Eureka’s Victory and La Brea look most likely to take up the running in a moderately run race.

Gear Changes: Zoe's Joey (1) Cross-over Nose Band FIRST TIME, Idle Dice (2) Blinkers FIRST TIME, Nose Roll OFF FIRST TIME, Gold Samurai (6) Blinkers AGAIN, Slick Heels (11) Blinkers AGAIN

Willnotquit (4) has finished in the placings in her past three starts and is knocking on the door for a win. Last start she was held up after straightening but got going once clear to finish third by 1.5 lengths. The extra trip looks like it will suit.

La Brea (5) was run down in the concluding stages at the Gold Coast over 1700m last start. Willnotquit was third in that race. She’s been more miss than hit but a repeat of that effort can see her in the finish.

Eureka’s Victory (3) is yet to place in ten starts but gets his chance here. He was last seen running home fairly for 2.6 length sixth over 1650m at Doomben. Drawn to get a nice run.

On Top Selection: Willnotquit (4)

Race 2 - 1:28PM WILPAK CHRISTMAS CIRCUS Maiden Handicap (1100 METRES)

Speed: The speed in the race looks like it’s drawn out with Stellarashi the most likely to lead.

Gear Changes: He's A Hotfoot (1) Blinkers FIRST TIME, Ear Muffs (Pre-Race Only) FIRST TIME, Gelded, The Preacher (2) Gelded, Slick Shooter (3) Tongue Tie FIRST TIME, Red Hot Love (4) Lugging Bit FIRST TIME, Gallery Master (6) Cross-over Nose Band OFF FIRST TIME, Amalfi Queen (8) Cross-over Nose Band OFF FIRST TIME, Dabildoya (9) Tongue Control Bit FIRST TIME, Tongue Tie OFF FIRST TIME, Leinster (10) Tongue Control Bit FIRST TIME

Aquarius (5) resumes here for Matty Dunn. She looked good in a recent trial where she cruised home for second behind Maotai. Her form last preparation was good including a second placing when resuming over this distance at Murwillumbah. She should enjoy a nice run.

Slick Shooter (3) worked home well over this course in distance when third to Yalla. That looks good form with the second horse Cassimir finishing second on Wednesday at Doomben. The big negative is the outside gate. If he gets some luck, he can feature.

He’s A Hotfoot (1) was just behind Aquarius in the above mentioned trial. He’s had three trials in readiness for his debut so should have a good level of fitness. Blinkers going on signals intent.

Perfect Legacy (11) finished off well for a 2.47 length fifth when resuming at Ballina over 1000m. Extra 100m here suits second-up.

On Top Selection: Aquarius (5)

Race 3 - 2:08PM CARINA JUNIOR RUGBY LEAGUE BENCHMARK 62 Handicap (800 METRES)

Speed: It’s stating the bleeding obvious that there will be plenty of early speed in this 800m scamper.

Gear Changes: Charged (3) Ear Muffs OFF FIRST TIME, Sheezasinga (7) Lugging Bit FIRST TIME, Brazetti (8) Blinkers OFF AGAIN, Tongue Tie FIRST TIME, Visors FIRST TIME

Boogielu (1) is a short course specialist having won all three career starts over 800m. He resumed at Warwick last start and gave nothing else a chance, burning his rival with sheer speed. This is a step up in class but he drops to 57.5kg with Yvette Lewis’ claim.  He should be one of the first out of the gates and prove hard to catch. He is also accepted at the Gold Coast.

Orsetto (2) returned to form last start with a win over this course and distance. He loves his home track and has won four of nine over the trip. Expect him to fight out the finish again.

Dream Weaving (5) has been freshened after finishing one-length behind You’ll Be Mist over 1010m here last start. She’ll appreciate the drop in class Yet to win over this course and distance in five starts but has finished in the placings four times. Watch for her finding the line.

I Am Fearless (6) resumed with a one-length third over this course and distance. Will have taken benefit from that run and did win his only previous second-up race.

On Top Selection: Boogielu (1)

Race 4 - 2:48PM JOHN PEDERSON MEMORIAL Class 4 Handicap (1200 METRES)

Speed: If Abdicating races here and not the Gold Coast, he should be able to lead and a decent tempo. Otherwise Shanjomi could be the leader.

Gear Changes: Imposing Beau (2) Blinkers AGAIN, 5. Avoca Concussion Plates (Front) OFF FIRST TIME

Shanjomi (8) came last over 1200m at Doomben last start. She can run a dud race then bounce back next start. This was the case four starts back when running last by many lengths before hitting back the very next start to win well at the Sunshine Coast in this class. Hopefully that happens here. She’s drawn to get a lovely run.

Imposing Beau (2) is first-up after an eight-week break. He races well fresh but will need to overcome the outside gate. That may not be as big an issue if likely scratchings take place. The blinkers go back on which can tune him right up.

Mysterious Art (6) won well over 1100m at the Gold Coast two starts back before a solid effort last start. This is the first time he has taken on 1200m but he gives the indication he’ll handle it.

King Hammurabi (9) resumes and won first-up over 1350m here in March. Capable galloper on his day but may find this a touch short. He’ll be better later on.

On Top Selection: Shanjomi (8)

Race 5 - 3:28PM BLK AUTO BENCHMARK 58 Handicap (1200 METRES)

Speed: The speed should be moderate with only a few capable of going forward on paper.

Gear Changes: Formula Excel (6) Blinkers FIRST TIME

Hot Profit (3) has recently moved to the Glenn Thornton stable and it’s resulted in a change of fortune. He had a few issues but those have been sorted. Last start he ran on strongly to finish second at Ballina. He should enjoy an economical run from the inside barrier.

Silver Galaxy (2) was a big winner when breaking his maiden at Beaudesert by 4.3 lengths. He uncustomarily led that day so similar tactics may be employed here in a race with limited speed.

Agent Of Mayhem (5) won three starts back and backed that up with a nice second at the Sunshine Coast last start. The wide gate is sticky but his form warrants consideration.

Fighting Mad (9) has a poor record, winning just once in 20 starts. However, last start he raced well to finish second to Writrose who is low flying at the moment. He should be reaching peak fitness third-up.

On Top Selection: Hot Profit (3)

Race 6 - 4:08PM QBIC BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1666 METRES)

Speed: In Agreement should ensure a genuine tempo is set.

Gear Changes: Circling (8) Blinkers AGAIN

Twice On Sunday (7) is a recent addition to the Jack Bruce stable after previously racing down south with Bjorn Baker. Bruce has done a tremendous job improving horses and this girl wouldn’t have to be too much better to be winning this. She looked good in a recent trial. Three starts back she won an Open Class 1600m race at Newcastle. A repeat of that has her winning. She should race on the speed.

A Big Chance (4) has been racing in great form. He drops in class after a solid run in a Class 6 at Doomben. Three starts back he won over this course and distance. Looks the testing material.

Ronlee Gal (12) resumes from a let up. She was last seen winning easily over 1800m at the Sunshine Coast. This is harder but she can feature.

Blue Corner (11) won at Dalby in a far easier race than this two starts back before being narrowly defeated over 1625m at Toowoomba last start. Will be prominent in the run.

On Top Selection: Twice On Sundays (7)

Race 7 - 4:47PM TAB RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap (1666 METRES)

Speed: Swear On A Promise, Friend Of God and Artie’s Dreamtime can all go forward but just at a solid speed.

Gear Changes: Storm Harbour (3) Norton Bit AGAIN, Standard Bit OFF FIRST TIME

The Golden Soul (2) has been racing in good form. Two starts back he ran a bold race when finishing a close second over this course and distance. He Yvette Lewis, who claims 3kg, can settle just behind the leaders. Lewis just needs to present him at the right time straightening.

Swear On A Promise (11) led and proved too strong when winning at Beaudesert over 1600m last start. Drawn to get a nice run and can go back-to-back.

Kasear (10) was caught three-wide last start when solid at the Gold Coast. Extra trip should suit but getting caught deep is again a concern with the wide gate.

Storm Harbour (3) is getting on in age but was fair when resuming at the Sunshine Coast. He has a good record over the course and distance.

On Top Selection: The Golden Soul (2)
