Ipswich Turf Club offers first near-course stabling opportunity

Date: 23-Oct-2023

THE Ipswich Turf Club is proud to offer a new stabling opportunity for trainers at a time accommodation for horses has never been greater in the south-east corner of the state.

The ITC is seeking expressions of interest from training operations to lease the stable blocks adjacent to the Ipswich racecourse at 10 Mill Street, Booval, comprising 31 stables.

"This property has recently been acquired by the ITC and we are excited to offer the first ‘near-course’ stabling opportunity the club has ever had,” ITC Chief Executive Tim Dunn said.

“We have recently completed the new sand fibre training track, which has met with critical acclaim from our current training group and others we have shown it to. The B Grass is also going to be refurbished as we prepare for a larger number of horses to be trained at Ipswich.”

The club is seeking a long-term tenant, or tenants and a training operation that will help promote the brand of Ipswich racing.

The stables have a separate driveway entry from Mill Street and rear access to TL Cooney Avenue near the ITC tie-up stall area, making access to the racecourse very easy.

In addition to the 31 stables, there is also an opportunity to rent a one bedroom unit at the stabling complex for an additional fee.

Expressions of interest are now open and continue through until November 17. The club will respond to all applicants with the outcome of their application by December 4, 2023. It will be at the discretion of the club whether the stables are allotted to one training operation or multiple trainers.

Ipswich conducts 45 race meetings each year, highlighted by one of the signature events on the Queensland racing calendar, the Ipswich Cup in June.

Training facilities include a bull ring, horse swim, sand roll and recently built tie-up stalls. The club has plans to host official trials and jumpouts in 2024.
