Ipswich Preview – Thursday 11 July 2024

Eight races are set to be run and won at Ipswich this Thursday and we’ve got you covered!

The track at time of writing is rated a Soft 5 with the rail out 6m the entire course.

We’ve provided our top selections for each race below.

Race 1 - 11:52AM IPSWICH EVENTS AND ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate (800 METRES)

6 Moulin Miss

Moulin Miss returns to racing for the first time since finishing third by 2.7 lengths in the Gold Pearl at the Gold Coast in January.

The Tony Gollan-trained daughter of Spirit Of Boom has come back a more mature filly and looked particularly good leading all the way in a Deagon trial over 1050m where she ran quick time.

Angela Jones should be able to settle in a prominent position.

Race 2 - 12:27PM RIVER 94.9FM QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap (1200 METRES)

1 Sujeed

Sujeed resumed in fine style on the Gold Coast Poly track last start over 1050m.

The Adam Campton-trained son of Sooboog overcame a slow start to settle handy before letting down powerfully late to win by 1.3 lengths.

He has plenty of ability and given the way he ran through the line, the rise to 1200m will suit second-up.

Michael Cahill can settle handy before running home strongly.

Race 3 - 1:04PM GREAT NORTHERN QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate (1350 METRES)

8 Jungle Law

Jungle Law resumed over 1200m at Doomben last start with a 1.5 length second to former Victorian Glowlight.

There was plenty of merit in the run from the Danny Bougoure-trained filly as she was caught three deep throughout but still was able to find the line strongly.

She’ll strip fitter second-up and did run well to finish a length second when having her second run back last preparation.

The rise in distance suits and she should enjoy a nice run for Cejay Graham.

Race 4 - 1:42PM SCHWEPPES BENCHMARK 70 Handicap (800 METRES)

2 Deep Blast

Deep Blast was last seen finishing 3.6 lengths third over 1100m here in an Open class race.

The Adam Campton-trained gelding resumes here on the back of a very nice trial where he raced outside the lead and was held under double wraps to finish a nose second to The Vowels.

He’ll appreciate the drop in class and Cody Collis’ 1.5 claim is a plus.

As would be expected, in an 800m scamper the speed will be on which should see him settle just off it before coming late.

Race 5 - 2:17PM GORDON'S GIN BENCHMARK 58 Handicap (1200 METRES)

2 Another Pedrille

Another Pedrille is airborne this preparation, winning both her races.

The Renita Beaton-trained daughter of Hellbent bolted in by three lengths when resuming over 1100m at Beaudesert.

She proved that it was no fluke last start when leading all the way over 1200m at Murwillumbah to win by 2.8 lengths.

She remains in the same class and will rise just 1kg thanks to Cody Collis’ claim.

Race 6 - 2:57PM SEVEN NEWS OPEN Handicap (1350 METRES)

1 Go Wandji

Go Wandji started his career with a big boom on him and he delivered with eight wins from his first 11 starts.

Unfortunately, things haven’t gone to plan since, and it’s been 101 weeks since his last win.

While his form in Saturday company has been average this preparation, he gets his opportunity to break through in a slightly easier race.

If he’s anywhere near his best, he should be running home over the top of them.

Race 7 - 3:34PM TAB BENCHMARK 58 Handicap (2180 METRES)

3 Enunciation

Enunciation offers good each way value in a tricky staying contest.

The Kelly Schweida-trained gelding settled back at Gatton last start and wasn’t suited by the tight track, but despite that worked home well late.

He will appreciate the slight drop in class and the last time he contested a race of this strength was over this course and distance and he finished a nose second.

He’s at peak fitness now and should enjoy an economical run.

Race 8 - 4:12PM RAY WHITE IPSWICH RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap (1690 METRES)

9 Tee Amici

Tee Amici bounced back to form last start with a strong win at Warwick.

The Paul Jenkins-trained five-year-old sat outside the lead over 1350m before powering to the line to win by a head.

He loves racing at Ipswich, having finished in the top three in all four of his races.

Sam Collett rides this gelding well and should be able to settle in a forward position.
